4th Annual Portland “MJN Help Defeat MS” Slingball Doubles & Mini Marilyn Kids Tourneys!

1st Place: Ron Albertson and Stephen Page

Slingball Players and Volunteers –  A giant THANK YOU for everyone who participated or volunteered to help with the 4th Annual MJN “Help fight MS” PDX Doubles Slingball Tourney!  While this tourney isn’t as massive as the Summer Sling in Pacific City OR,  we were still able to raise just over $1,000 and in record time, we might add!   Our mom, Marilyn J. Neu would be proud, as in the end, it was her  Brother, Ron Albertson and his good friend Stephen Page who stole the show and manhandled the competition with surgeon like precision!   Ron, way to show off for your oldest sister!  Runners up were Randy and Tracy Neu (yes Tourney Director Tracy Neu finally got to play…as did Assistant Director Wendy Neu!).   They were followed by Ed and JoLynn Foulon (representing WSU and the Cougs) and last but not least, newcomers to the tourney, Beth Albertson and Nate Tibbals.   Beth in particular was on fire, loading up the scoreboard with 4 after 4!

The Winners!
1st Place:  Ron Albertson and Stephen Page
2nd Place: Randy and Tracy Neu
3rd Place:  Ed and JoLynn Foulon
4th Place:  Beth Albertson and Nate Tibbals

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! Special thanks go out to Randy & Carter Neu for staging all tents and set up & Tracy and Wendy Neu for being tourney directors. More special thanks go out to Craig Cook for bringing a flat screen TV so folks could watch College Football during break time and Holly Albertson for being lead photographer. And of course… A BIG THANK YOU to all that helped set up and tear down. Prizes included Blazers Tickets, Sling merch and of course bragging rights for an entire year!

In Loving Memory: Mike “Fitz” Fitzpatrick We also wanted to thank everyone for the nice moment of silence, honoring Randy’s good friend and Fraternity Brother, Mike “Fitz” Fitzpatrick who suddenly passed away Friday Oct. 10th. While Fitz never officially attended Slingball (he lived in Arizona), Fitz’s enthusiasm, passion for sports and longtime friendship will be missed by all who knew him.  We’ll be thinking of you Fitz during every Pdx/Winter Tourney from here on out.
We need YOUR feedback… Please answer the following questions: We are interested in getting YOUR feedback on a couple ideas. Please respond with your feedback.
Sling Questions:
1. Would you be interested in a Winter Tourney in mid Jan or early Feb? Yes/No
2. Would you be interested in having it indoors with food and beverage? Yes/No
3. Would you be interested in having outside in the snow at a winter destination such as Mt. Hood or Bend OR or other winter spot? Yes/No
Thanks for everybody’s support. The Neu Brothers truly appreciate you!
