The 2021 Sling Tourney Champ is…Jace Chadez!

Jace, representing Idaho, is the first youth to win the adult tourney…at 14 years old he faced off with another 14 year old,  Brady Angelo from Vancouver WA (a former Mini Marilyn Kids champ)!   Our mom,  Marilyn would have been proud to see these two great kids battling out in the championship.  Both have grown up with Slingball and are now competing with the adults.  Rounding out the top 4 were 19 year old Blake Lambert (another Mini Marilyn winner) and Aaron Angelo, father of Brady!   Definitely, a youth movement this year and many of the adults jokingly (or maybe not) want an over 40 tourney.  Lol.
We think we netted just over $10k which was pretty good for the smaller turnout and short notice and very pleased to see the event back up and running! We had many new faces this year, especially from the Idaho crew (thank you for making the long drive!).  Plus, a huge thank you to all participants, volunteers, and donors for mobilizing. Other highlights included Rob Royster Silent Auction, honoring the late owner of the Sportsman’s Pub who was always very supportive of Slingball. We will miss him but always remember him. We started Slingball in honor of our mother Marilyn J. Neu and her and Rob share the gift of bringing different people together to have fun. Both of their spirits live on!
Thank you to the State and Tillamook County for providing the permit on the tail end of covid restrictions. Sling players were itching to get out and play we couldn’t have done it without them.  The same goes for the many businesses and donors of Pacific City. Shout out to our friends at Twist Wine Company for hosting check-in and BJ’s for providing lunch coupons!
